Where ever we are going, we are going together! 2017 was quite the year for our team, tightening our relationships with each other and developing our common vision. On a regulatory level, 2017 bore witness to counties all over the state pooling their resources to create adult use ordinances that will go into effect January 1, 2018. It has been encouraging to see local activism shift perspectives and open minds. That said, we still have a long way to go.
September is self-care awareness month. Self-care means taking the time for self-awareness, checking in with yourself, and assessing your needs. An act of self-care can be anything from a daily walk with your dog to cooking yourself a nourishing meal to dancing around your room alone.
California will implement adult-use cannabis in 2018. However, legalization at the state level left a lot of work at the local level. Each community has the opportunity to write its own regulations. Nevada County recently put together a Community Advisory Group (CAG) to help guide us forward as California legalizes cannabis.
Using cannabis when practicing yoga dates back to ancient India. Thousands of years ago, it was regularly used by yogis, only to be stigmatized and forgotten. The Sutra quoted above suggests that the two can be used together to open up the mind and to help bridge the gap from unconsciousness to divine consciousness.
When I was talking to my family, they asked some interesting questions about cannabis. I spend a lot of time in the pro-cannabis bubble, so it’s easy to forget that we’re building a brand new industry. Naturally, many people will have questions about cannabis, and we’d love to help people learn more.
